This webpage provides information about Electric Bikes, Electric Scoooters, Electric Tricycles (Trikes) for Adults, Electric Automobiles, and where to buy them!
Did you know that Toyota, Nissan, DaimlerChrysler, and Ford (via Think Mobility division) all USED TO sell or lease some of form of PURE battery powered electric automobiles (in addition to the hydrogen fuel-cell and hybrid-electric powered cars that they have in development)? Ford stopped leasing their electric truck in 2005 January/February. DaimlerChrysler still still sells and electric vehicle through their GEM division, but it is only a low speed vehicle. However even when freeway speed capable electric cars will being sold from the major auto makers, most had extremely limited availablity. This is because even though California government (an a few others) mandates that the automakers produce zero emission cars (which basically mean electric cars at this time), the auto makers don't want to produce them. Many people had been trying to lease or buy these cars, only to be turned down by the auto dealers. Fortunately some people have been successful in obtaining an electric car. General Motors made an innovative battery powered electric car called the EV1, which was leased (but never offered for sale) via GM's Saturn division, but they discontinued it. GM even sued the state of California over California's zero emission law.
Small Companies Manufacturing Electic Cars in the USA
Though the major automobile manufacturers have ceased selling electric cars (except for DaimlerChrysler's GEM division), small companies are manufacturing electric cars and electric pseudocars. Here are websites by some USA electric car manufacturers and electric pseudocar manufacturers:
For used electric cars, including conversions, visit the websites of various EV clubs.
Renewable Electricity Solutions is Now a Dealer of Electric Scooters!
Since extremely low volumes of electric cars are being produced for the USA market, and since finding an electric vehicle dealer is not easy, this business has now entered the market as an electric scooter dealer! Renewable Electricity Solutions is an internet affiliate for ZAP electric vehicles. Renewable Electricity Solutions also is a dealer for the Rhoades Car. Renewable Electricity Solutions no longer sells the BLADEZ XTR Lite 150 Powerboard electric scooter, BLADEZ XTR Lite 250, 450, and XTR Transport models of electric scooters. For more information and to place your order for an electric vehicle, go to the Electric Scooters section of the Online Catalog!

We Can Easily Solve the EV Charging Location Problem
To learn how we can easily solve the problem of not enough Electric Vehicle charging locations, you can look at a rough draft of my "Electric Vehicle Charging Network" proposal/vision at my "Electric Automobile Advocates" webpage.
Websites for Additional Information about Electric Vehicles, including Automobiles!
Here are some of the great sites I've found about electric scooters, bicycles, tricycles, and cars.
- http://evworld.com - EVWorld is probably the number 1 website for news and information about pure battery powered electric cars and other electric vehicles! Another portion of their website at http://evworld.com/databases/weblinks.cfm has comprehensive informational web links for electric vehicles in the following catagories: commercial, government/NGO, private, and academic/publication! Be sure to also visit EVWorld!
- www.fueleconomy.gov is the Federal Government's website about fuel economy. Go to the section called "Find and compare cars" then go to the section called
"Cars that don't need gasoline!". Pay special attention to model 2000 and 2001 cars (since there are fewer 2002 EV models).
- www.greencars.com has info proving that there would be a strong market for pure battery powered electric cars if the major automakers would get their act together and lower the cost of electric cars via mass production and engage in much more marketing (most peopole do not know that electric cars are even available from the big automobile manufacturers).
- www.powerassist.com - This web site has much information about electric cars, electric scooters, electric bicycles, and electric tricycles (for adults). Unfortunately they appear to have removed their informational section about electric cars.
- www.theenergyguy.com - This website has comprehensive information about electric vehicles, solar power, solar heating, and more! For the electric cars section, click on the link called Transportation products.
- www.electric-bikes.com - For the section on electric cars, see the section called "Neighborhood Electric Vehicle"
-
http://www.eren.doe.gov/consumerinfo/refbriefs/db2.html - This website is a section of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory/U.S. Department of Energy! It is about Solar-Powered Vehicles. It indicates the practicality of recharging a battery powered electric car via a detatched PV charging system, such as having the PV panels on a building or a vehicle shelter to charge an electric vehicle (EV) battery when the car is parked.
- Alternative Fuels Data Center, U.S. Department of Energy - The web page is a locator for Alternative Fuel Vehicles Refuelling Stations (including Electric Charging Stations for Electric Automobiles)
- EV UK (Electric Vehicles United Kingdom) - Campaign for REAL, long-range electric vehicles - and so much more! - The website provides coverage of electric cars (with a focus on the United Kingdom market) and provides reasons why the car makers are holding back on producing and selling electric automobiles!
- Todays Vehicles - Noel's EV Page - This is another website that provides coverage of electric cars and reasons why the car makers are holding back on producing and selling battery powered electric automobiles!
- EV Junction - The website includes free Electric Vehicle Classifieds!
- Electric Cars - You must see this website!
- Electrifying Times - Electric Vehicle online/subscription magazine
- AC Propulsion - Developer of high performance tzero electric car and electric charging systems.
Participate in their survey so that automakers will know how many people want an electric automobile!
- Oregon Electric Vehicle Association (OEVA) - The Oregon chapter of the Electric Auto Association (EAA). The owner of Renewable Electricity Solutions began regularly attending meetings of the Oregon Electric Vehicle Association (OEVA) in 2002 December.
- The California Cars Initative
is creating a market (beginning in California) for plug-in hybrids, the
next generation of clean, efficient advanced technology vehicles.
- drivelectric - Drivelectric provides three separate services: (1) sourcing electric vehicles as distributors/brokers for manufacturers and dealerships, (2) providing consultancy on best use of available EV products and (3) providing consultancy to the manufacturing industry using their know-how and market research data.
- Some EV History/History of Electric Cars and other Vehicles - This site provides the REAL REASONS why electric car production went into decline around 1913 and why there are so few electric cars today. It is NOT the reasons given by the fossil fuel based Detroit auto industry!
- Ford's TH!NK Mobility company - Ford bought a Norwegian electric car company, called Pivco, and renamed the company TH!NK Mobility. Despite Reuters and Associated Press articles of 2002 August 30, Ford's TH!NK Mobility's customer relations department assured me, via email, that Ford still plans to introduce a highway speed street legal battery powered electric car in Spring 2003 called the Th!nk City. However Th!nk Mobility's Low Speed/Neighborhood electric car, the Th!nk Neighbor, is being discontinued by the end of year 2002.
Update of 2002 September 9: The Ford TH!NK Mobility department sent me an email saying "The Think City is due out in the Spring of 2003. At this time, we are still finalizing pricing and dealership information." But later in the email, the department says "Since the first e-mail was sent, we have gotten some updated information to say that TH!NK Nordic has entered into a consultation period with the workforce and stakeholders of its Norway plant to determine the future of the battery electric vehicle, TH!NK city." This wording is rather vague, but it seems to confirm reports that Ford will offer the Th!nk City for sale within he USA (though it was leased at least in California and New York state). An email from the editor of EVWorld says "according to John Wallace (Th!nk's director), the company (Th!nk Mobility) is up for sale, including the Th!nk city." Earlier in the year 2002, TH!NK Mobility discontinued their electric bicycles. See the section of my website called, Auto Industry's Fight Against Fuel Economy and Electric Automobiles! for more information.
EV Drivers Staged Protest of Ford's Decision to Cancel Th!nk City EV Production. Protest occurred on 2002 October 10 in San Francisco, California! The link abut the protest also includes more information about the Th!nk City and a discussion board.
Update of 2002 December 22: Th!nk City Car Saved!
In mid December of 2002, Ford sold the Th!nk division in tact to a Sweedish electric vehicle manufacturer that plans to produce the Th!nk vehicles! Apparently Ford was not planning to crush the EV program after all, merely sell the program to someone else.
Kampkorp plans to replace the Th!nk City's drive train and battery pack with much improved ones - and the drive train will cost less! Much higher range is expected! This is great news!
- ATT R&D (Advanced Transportation Technology R&D Co.) - This company is developing a stylish, versatile, and affordable pure battery powered electric car! The car, called the Parade, will seat four people, have four doors plus hatchback door, and three of the seats can be removed for extra cargo space! A 96.6 kilometers (60 miles) per charge version will sell for about $20,000 US MSRP! A 241 kilometers (150 miles) per charge version will sell for about only $25,000 US MSRP. The company expects to make a profit at these prices. The company is in South Korea and hopes to build their first USA factory in the state of Oregon (my home state). Further information may be found in the printed edition of "The Oregonian" newspaper of Tuesday, 2002 April 16 in the Business section. The ATT R&D home page indicates they are looking for dealers!
Websites about a Compressed Air Powered Car
This car is not directly powered by electricity, but it might be better since no heavy batteries are required. However to the degree that electricity is used to compress the air, it can be said that the car's potential energy was supplied by electricity. This car actually releases cleaner air than it takes in as "fuel". The car is produced by Moteur Developpement International (MDI).
